PV Concentrator

What is PV Concentrator?

A concentrator is a mirror that reflects sunlight onto the PV modules. The concentrator enhances the efficiency of the PV modules by supplementing the direct sunlight the modules receive with additional reflected sunlight, increasing the solar cells light saturation. Concentrators can be produced from various materials such as stainless steel, aluminum alloys, silver coated polymers or silver coated hardened glass.

Introduction of Everlight Solar Tracking Concentrator

A LOW COST TRACKING CONCENTRATOR

A soft V-type concentrator tracking system can double the PV energy production when compared with fixed panels and substantially reduce the buyback time of the PV system. Our tracking-concentrator systems combine simple, low-cost, single axis trackers with V-type concentrators. On our combined single axis tracking concentrator, the mirror doesn't need to extend beyond the PV panels, saving space and eliminating ground clearance issues. Our polar axis trackers, with seasonally adjustable horizontal and polar axis slopes, ensure uniform illumination of the panels year-round. Our mirrors are cost effective, weather resistant and produce high levels of total reflectance.

Everlight tracking concentrators are compact, simple and reliable. Proven existing tracker hardware is used. The ridge concentrator is easily scalable and can accommodate as few as 2 small PV panels (170Wp), up to 20 PV panels with 330Wp output power. Application of the ridge concentrator on different tracking systems is also very easy. It can be used on polar or horizontal single axis trackers, two axis trackers, and on 360° trackers for space and terrestrial applications.

The concentration ratio reduces temperature of PV panels, improving their efficiency, and prevents degradation of the panel's encapsulation material. Our design also increases air flow around PV panels which provides additional cooling effects. The new tracking ridge concentrator can double annual energy harvest (100% energy surplus in climates like northern Africa, Arabia, Arizona or western Australia, 80% in central Europe) in comparison with fixed panels. For solar powered pumps the pumping capacity surplus can be as high as 130%.
